The Man Who Steps Up to Be a Good Father
What does it mean to have a good father? First and foremost, it’s the man who steps up to show love to his family with his willingness to lead, provide and stand firm in the face of adversity.
A ship needs a captain, and a family needs their father. It is well known in today’s society that the head of the household can mean many things. These days our world is dominated by the internet and television.
But today, I am talking about the man who steps up. He is the backbone of his family. The man that everyone goes to when times are tough. The man that has the answers or will help you find the answers when questions arise.
The man of the family sets the tone for the family culture. He decides how the family identity will be lived.
The man that spends time with his children and/or grandchildren. Weekends in the mountain snow, sledding, and making snow cones. Trips to amusement parks, to the river, or just staying home. His yummy breakfasts and barbeques. Coaching sports. Motorcycle riding, Camping, jet skiing. The list is unending.
The man that steps up is a good dad who continues to evolve. He should be the person in the family that helps to build self-esteem and confidence by being engaged, supportive, and loving to his family. The relationship with his wife reflects the man from within.
A warm, accepting dad plays with his children. He is affectionate and nurturing. This, in turn, contributes to a child’s achievement, peer popularity, and personal adjustment.
A good father is disciplined in his love and provides positive parenting. All children need discipline to set reasonable limits. The man that steps up is the father who is there to remind them of the consequences of their actions. A loving father providing practical, firm guidance without arbitrary demands will create positive and desirable behavior in his family.
Fathers need to be role models to their kids. It is well-known that daughters who spend time with a loving father grow up knowing she deserves to be treated with respect. She learns what to look for in a partner.
A man who becomes a good father teaches his kids what is important in life by demonstrating honesty, humility, and responsibility.
Conversations about essential topics when kids are young, make communicating easier when they get older. To be a good father is to teach your children about right and wrong. Encourage them to do their best and make good choices.
A man’s life, in most cases, is changed only by a few events. Becoming a father is one of the biggest. He is entrusted with the responsibility of another person. This monumental task can be gratifying when he can see his child grow into adulthood- With his affection and attention, their self-worth is determined.
How a father spends his time reveals to his children what is important to him. Our children grow up quickly, and the grandchildren even quicker. So, the time to bond is now.
A man who steps up to be a good father is one of the most unpraised, unnoticed, and underappreciated- yet one of the most valuable assets in our society.
We know we are loved by the man who steps up to be a good father.
