Our Rights and Responsibilities

It is our right and responsibility to support and defend the constitution of the United States and to participate in the democratic process while respecting and obeying federal, state, and local laws.

In a free society we must respect the rights, beliefs, and opinions of others to enable our society to flourish by showing courtesy and consideration toward others as a measure of our civilized society. It is in our best interest to provide sympathy and understanding and to help others in need. When we help others to become productive members of society- we contribute to the strength of our nation.

We should do our best to provide for our families’ needs. Personal freedom does not exist without economic freedom.

We have the duty to be fully responsible for our own actions and for the consequences of those actions as citizens of these United States. The freedom we enjoy and the responsibility we hold are mutual and inseparable. To enjoy one is to exercise the other. Our freedom depends on how we take our responsibilities as individuals. We must continue to secure and expand our liberties and accept the responsibilities that come with a free society.

It is imperative that we respect the property of others- both public and private. We have the right to enjoy what is ours which depends on how we respect the rights of others. No one has the right to take or destroy what is not theirs.

Our duty as a citizen of the United States is to respect and obey our local state and federal laws that have been freely adopted. Freedom shared is freedom strengthened as we comply with regulations set forth to maintain a free society. If any one of these regulations infringe upon our freedom and liberties, then we should step forward to change them. Our foundation provides for an orderly process in which we can change laws.

We as citizens are protected by the law and criminal justice system. The people running this system are required and have a duty to comply with the same rules and accept the same laws as set forth by our constitution. If these systems fail to protect us- we have the power and the right to replace these people in charge.

We must respect the rights of others to meet our responsibilities on which our liberty rests and the democracy depends. Our responsibility as a citizen gives us the opportunity to act independently and make decisions without authorization. Those responsibilities include patriotism and a concern for the welfare of our fellow citizens. This democracy depends on our active citizenry to participate in constructive and an informed political life.

In order for our freedom to survive, we must assume personal responsibility for its defense. We cannot survive as a nation unless we defend our constitution and the security in which it rests. To maintain a civil and free society requires a common effort of all of us working together- and individually. The determination of each individual is another brick in the foundation to preserve our free society.

Our rights as American citizens are contained in the Bill of Rights which is a part of our Constitution. The First Amendment covers our freedom to enjoy specifically- the freedom of religion, speech, press and assembly.

Our Freedom of Religion is our right to practice any religion we like- or no religion at all. Our Freedom of speech and press is our right to express ourselves however we choose, be it through online communications, art, music, or through our actions.

Our freedom of assembly gives us the right to assemble peacefully and petition the government without fear of punishment. This is covered in the Eighth Amendment which restricts excessive fines and cruel and unusual punishment.

As U.S. citizen we have the right to bear arms as stated in the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights. We have the right to run for elected office and to vote in elections for public officials.

Under our Declaration of Independence, we have certain unalienable rights which grant us the right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

We all as citizens of the United States have the responsibility to participate in the democratic process and vote. Our rights as a citizen should be considered in whole because each responsibility is linked to ensuring that the fabric of our nation stays intact. This is the main reason it is critical for us all to stay mindful of our obligations and exercise our unalienable rights as citizens.

It is our right and responsibility to support and defend the constitution of the United States and to participate in the democratic process while respecting and obeying federal, state, and local laws.

When we feel a law is inequitable or unjust- we have the power to change it. Our commitment to perform our unalienable rights as a Citizen of the United States must stem from a system of ethics, morality, and honor.
