My Circle

As I have grown in my writing craft, I find myself craving something more outside of my bubble of existence. A restlessness stirred within me, a longing for a deeper connection, a purpose beyond my desires. And so, when the invitation came to join the circle of writers and intellectuals of a Christian Writing Club, I could not resist.

The need for belonging is a fundamental emotional need in humans to connect with and be accepted by others within a self-identified group. This need can manifest in various ways, such as finding a sense of community within a writing group.

Humans naturally seek out connections and form friendships based on shared interests. Our innate need to belong drives us to establish long-standing relationships with others and participate in social activities like clubs, religious groups, and community organizations. Creating a sense of belonging requires effort, such as actively seeking out common interests and engaging with others. Taking the time to engage with others and focus on similarities instead of differences will help foster acceptance. A strong sense of belonging is essential for both physical and mental well-being.

I have always been a free spirit, wandering from one adventure to the next. Being independent has brought a sense of fulfillment to my life, a feeling of infinite possibility. It allows me to let my imagination soar, to indulge in my wildest dreams and pursuits without the burden of expectations or obligations.

I have been blessed to be allowed to express my innermost thoughts and emotions. Writing is always a new adventure, a new written page that leads to a new chapter in life- I am always ready to embrace it with open arms.

There is always something deeply satisfying about finishing a book, an article, or a poem- no matter how small or inconsequential it may seem. I learned early in life that the only way to quiet the constant knot to create is to have a purpose.

So, when I am overwhelmed with responsibilities and obligations, I turn to my computer. I schedule time to complete a writing task, leaving little room for distractions or delays. When I work my way through my writing list, I can feel the weight of anxiety lifted from my chest, replaced by a sense of calm and control.

In these moments, when I am focused and productive, I feel most free. The weight of my worries and fears dissipated with each completed writing task, leaving me with a sense of accomplishment and relief. And though I know the writing anxiety will return, as it always does, I take comfort in the knowledge that I have in belonging to a writing community.

When I close my laptop with a satisfying snap, I smile. There is still much to be done. I take a deep breath and sigh, grateful for the respite that completing this article has brought me.
