Grateful vs Empathy

By far I would have to choose gratefulness. Empathy is a byproduct of being grateful. When we are grateful, we are thankful- we are willing to show appreciation and return kindness to each other. We feel more positive emotions when we are grateful. This gives us the ability to identify and relish our everyday experiences. It helps us to deal with adversity and build stronger relationships.

When we can show our appreciation, we can help our family and friends. When we show gratitude for a relationship it is more likely that that relationship will be ongoing.

When we focus and exercise our gratitude it will improve our mental and physical health.

For this reason, practicing gratitude will enhance and improve our empathy for others and reduces social comparisons. It reduces aggression therefore we are more likely to appreciate other people’s conditions in life and behave in a kinder manner.

We all can have the ability to develop and cultivate gratitude. All we need to do is focus on all that we have rather than focusing on the things we think we should have and then complain about it.

I am grateful for being able to express my thankfulness and appreciation to the world around me.
