Do Angels Exist

The Living Bible is another way for God to speak to us. When I read scripture, God is talking directly to me. How do you know what scripture to read? That can come in different forms. When you go to bible study or to church on Sunday you will find a specific message is being sent to you and the community at large. When you read the bible you will begin to find that the message will be specific to you.

Here is how it works for me. There will be something that is bothering me or something I don’t understand. It is something that my sub-conscious has brought to my attention. My sub-conscious is my link with the Holy Spirit. When the time is right and it grabs my conscious mind a scripture will come with it. Sometimes just the scripture comes and I realized that it is an answer on something that I had questioned or had been thinking about without realizing it. Let me give you some examples:

We were staying at a friend’s home in the desert. We have been friends for many years. We began to talk about our faith and belief’s and my girlfriend explained to me that she did not believe in Angels. I was surprised by this and we continued to talk until we went to bed that night. Upon going to bed Luke 1:14 came to me.

Now at this time, I had not studied the bible so I definitely was not familiar with any of the scripture. I wrote down “Luke 1:14” and went to sleep. The next morning while getting ready the scripture came back to me again reminding me that I had written it down. I went over to the pad and it was indeed the same scripture that was again coming into my mind.

I went into the kitchen and asked my girlfriend if she had a bible and she said she thought that she might have her father’s old bible someplace. I asked her to go and find it. She brought back an old bible and I asked her to look up Luke 1:14 and tell me what it says.

I told her before we read it that I believed this scripture was meant for her and I was not sure what it was going to say. She hesitantly started to read Luke 1:14 —

“And you will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He will drink neither wine nor strong drink. He will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s womb, and he will turn many of the children of Israel to the Lord their God.

He will go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers toward children and the disobedient to the understanding of the righteous, to prepare a people fit for the Lord.

Then Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife, is advanced in year. “ and the angel said to him in reply, “I am Gabriel, who stand before God. I was sent to speak to you and to announce to you this good news. But now you will be speechless and unable to talk until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time. “

After reading this my girlfriend asked me does this mean I am going to become speechless?

I said, “I don’t think so. I believe this is God showing you that there are angels and that you should believe but that is between you and God.”
